ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - One day after an impressive performance at No. 14 Connecticut, UCF freshman guard Marcus Jordan (Highland Park, Ill.) was named the Conference USA Rookie of the Week Monday. Jordan led the Knights with 13 points in 28 minutes against the Huskies.
Both of UCF's contests last week were against BIG EAST programs and Jordan averaged 12.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals. He shot 59.0 percent overall, and 60.0 percent from 3point range. Jordan shared the C-USA honor with Jeremy Williams of UTEP.
His 13 points at UConn were good for a season high. He added four boards, two assists and a blocked shot. Three of his four rebounds against the Huskies came on the offensive end. On Wednesday, Jordan scored 11 points at USF. He connected on a pair of triples and also recorded three assists, two rebounds and a pair of steals.
Jordan has appeared in all 11 of the Knights' contests this year, and is averaging 5.1 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 19.0 minutes as a reserve.
Jordan is the second UCF player to earn C-USA Rookie of the Week honors since the school joined the league in 2005. Isaac Sosa was received the award a season ago.
UCF will return to action on Dec. 29, hosting Liberty to open the UCF Holiday Classic.
