ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Winter Park native Jenna Doerfler will be representing the UCF women's tennis team at this year's Tennis Spectacular hosted by the Jewish Community Center and held at the Orlando Tennis Center next to Amway Arena. The event takes place Dec. 17 from 6-9 p.m. and features world-ranked tennis players in action.
"It's an exciting opportunity for Jenna to be able to play in this event with top-ranked female tennis players," said UCF head coach Stephanie Nickitas. "We are really appreciative of (head tennis pro at the JCC) Jerry Fekete to invite Jenna and to help promote UCF women's tennis around the Orlando community."
The night will be similar to a world team tennis format event, and include Kveta Peschke from the Czech Republic who retired in singles with a No. 26 world ranking and had several top-10 doubles seasons.
Among those joining Peschke are Tobias Svantesson (winner of two doubles titles), former Orlando Magic player Anthony Bowie and USPTA two-time national player of the year Paulo Barros.
A freshman out of Winter Park High School, Doerfler was a five-star recruit and earned a No. 57 national ranking. In fall tournament action, she claimed two singles victories and went 5-4 in doubles with teammate Alexis Rodriguez.
