ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - One thing you will not hear around the UCF men's basketball team is using its youth as an excuse. With his impressive play, scoring 21 points against Albany this past weekend, redshirt freshman forward Dave Diakite has been recognized as the Bright House Student-Athlete of the Week.
Diakite made first-career start this year in the season-opening win over Massachusetts scoring eight points and seven boards. During the Glenn Wilkes Classic he totaled 10 points and eight rebounds in 22 minutes in the victory against Drake. Diakite is second on the team with an average of 10.2 points per game.
The Knights are now 5-1 and will take on Newberry tonight at 7 p.m. at the UCF Arena.
