Women's Rowing Concludes Fall Season With Strong Showing at Head of the Hooch

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's rowing team competed at the Head of the Hooch regatta Saturday to conclude its fall season, with five boats finishing in the top-10 in their respective events. The 5,000-meter contest took place on the Tennessee River in Chattanooga, Tenn.

The Black and Gold had 10 total squads compete at the event, which included two varsity 8+ boats, four varsity 4+ boats, two varsity 2x boats and two novice 8+ boats.

The Women's Freshman/Novice 8+ event was the first on tap for the Knights at the regatta. UCF's novice `A' team finished the event in a time of 16:26.5, good for eighth place, while the `B' squad followed right behind in ninth place with a time of 16:35.5. Old Dominion capture first-place honors in the novice race with a time of 14:50.4.

The Women's Championship 8+ event was next up for the UCF squad, with the varsity eight `A' boat of Lauren Patton, Liz Robinson, Jordynn Pauls, Samantha MIller, Allisha Campaigne, Katherine Krueger, Lauren Hampson, Lucia Pinelli and Chelsey Green crossing the finish line in a time of 14.43.3 to take home eighth-place honors. The Knights' varsity eight `B' boat tied for 16th with the Texas `C' boat, as the pair clocked in at 15:15.1. In all, 35 different boats, including No. 12 Clemson and No. 18 Louisville, who finished first and third, respectively, competed in the varsity-eight event.

Following the varsity-eight race, the Black and Gold had two boats take part in the Women's Championship 2x event. The `B' boat of Krueger and Campaigne was UCF's top-finisher in the event, placing third in 16:55.0, with the `A' boat of Pauls and Robinson finishing one second and one place behind with a time of 16:56.0.

The Knights' last event of the day was the Women's Championship 4+, where they had four boats competing. The `D' squad of Sheilah Abadines, Caroline Cooper, Monica Larkin, Leah VanLear and Christine Rubino crossed the finish line first for UCF, placing 13th with a time of 16:31.2. The Knights' `A' finished the event 19th after clocking in at 16:43.6, with the `C' boat following in 27th place and the `B' boat crossing in 29th place.
