UCF Volleyball Hosts Final Home Series of the Season

Nov. 5, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - With only three Conference USA matches left in the regular season, the UCF volleyball team is set to host its final home series this weekend when it welcomes Tulsa and SMU to The Venue at UCF. The Knights will take on the Golden Hurricane Friday at 7 p.m., before challenging the Mustangs Sunday at 1 p.m. on Bright House Sports Network.

The match, which is also designated as Senior Day, will be aired on tape delay on BHSN Sunday at 7 p.m. on Bright House channel 47 for digital cable subscribers.

With an 11-15 overall mark and 3-10 league-clip, the Black and Gold sits at No. 9 in C-USA standings heading into the weekend. Though six league-squads have already secured a spot in the eight-team C-USA Championship, the Knights still have a chance to claim one of the final two positions with a sweep of the weekend and a win on the road against Southern Miss on Nov. 13.

Knight fans will be able to help head coach Todd Dagenais and the rest of the volleyball squad honor their two seniors, Erin Campbell (Kansas City, Mo.) and Andee Youngblood (Castle Rock, Colo.) on Senior Day which is set for Sunday afternoon following the conclusion of the team's match-up with SMU.

Campbell enters the weekend 60 digs shy of becoming the third player in program-history to total 300 kills and 300 digs in three-consecutive seasons. The senior climbed to fourth on the UCF career-register with 3,695 attempts, 9.01 attempts per set and 2.66 digs per sets. She sits in sixth with 1,146 kills, seventh with 1,089 digs and eighth with 410 sets played.

Earlier in the season, the outside hitter became only the fourth Knight in program-history to register both 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs on Sept. 25 at East Carolina and also became the first Knight to be named to the Preseason All-C-USA Team prior to the start of the season.

Youngblood is also climbing up the UCF career-record charts. The setter improved to fourth all-time with 2,174 career assists.

Tulsa, the Black and Gold's Friday-night opponent, travels to Orlando second in league standings with a 10-2 C-USA record and a 21-5 overall mark. UCF is 2-3 in the all-time series with the Golden Hurricane. In the teams' last meeting, the Knights stunned the defending C-USA regular-season champions with a 3-0 sweep of Tulsa on the road.

SMU enters the weekend fourth in C-USA standings with an 8-4 league record and an 18-8 overall record. The Knights are 1-4 all-time when facing the Mustangs after defeating the squad in the opening round of the C-USA Championship last season.
