UCF Varsity Club Fall Event is a Success

Nov. 20, 2009

ORLANDO (UCFAthletics.com) - The Nov. 14 Homecoming football game kicked off with the Second-Annual UCF Varsity Club Pre-Game Brunch. The event was held in the IOA Plaza and lasted from 9-11 a.m., and more than 100 UCF Athletics letter winners joined the GKC for this fun and exciting day.

Under the beautiful, sunny Orlando sky, these former athletes were able to enjoy great food and refreshments, connect with fellow teammates, alumni and friends, and share their Knights' spirit. The day was capped off with a thrilling 37-32 UCF victory over the No. 12-ranked Houston Cougars, lifting the Knights to a 6-4 record for the season.

Jeff Ulmer, Sr. Associate AD of Development, commented on the success of the UCF Varsity Club event and his future plans stating, "We were proud to bring so many former athletes back to campus and have them reunite with the UCF Athletics family. The continued interest and support by our letter winners is vital for the development of the University and UCF Athletics. So, we are committed to growing the alumni student-athlete network with other Varsity Club events like this one."

The UCF Varsity Club is comprised of UCF letter winners who have continued their interest in UCF's Athletics program after their eligibility has expired. The UCF Varsity Club provides former letter winners with an opportunity to share and relive experiences, network with former student-athletes, participate in social activities and community service, and support UCF Athletics. All UCF athletes who participated in at least one full year of competition and who have either graduated or departed from the University (to pursue other career interests) are automatically members of the UCF Varsity Club.

If you are a former letter winner and were not able to attend the brunch please visit the UCF Varsity Club website for information on future events (http://www.ucfathleticfund.com/varsity-club/).
