ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Junior Marshay White (Rochester, N.Y.) tied a career high with 23 points and UCF (1-1) won its ninth-straight home game as the Knights rolled to an 80-46 victory over visiting Bethune-Cookman (1-2) in non-conference women's basketball action Friday night at the UCF Arena.

The Knights swept their eight Conference USA home games in 2008-09, and Friday's victory puts them just two wins shy of tying the program's Division I record of 11-straight home wins set in 1998-99.

"I thought we played hard for 40 minutes," said head coach Joi Williams. "We were able to play better defensively and force some turnovers while limiting our own turnovers offensively."

Junior Emma Cannon (Rochester, N.Y.) scored the game's first bucket, and her free throw at the 15:13 mark of the first half gave her 900 for her career. However, the C-USA Preseason Player of the Year was limited to just 15 minutes due to foul trouble, and she finished the game with seven points and three rebounds.

The two teams battled close in the opening half, and UCF led just 21-19 with 7:18 left in the half. Getting eight points from junior Chelsie Wiley (Rochester, N.Y.), UCF closed the half on a 15-7 spurt and ended the game with a 59-27 run.

White led the second-half surge, hitting 6-of-12 shots and totaling 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists alone in the second half. She finished the game 9-for-17, including 4-of-8 from long range, in just 21 minutes of action to tie her career high.

The Knights held Bethune-Cookman to just 30.5 percent shooting for the game, including just 8-for-27 in the second half. The UCF defense also forced BCU into 26 turnovers.

After totaling just two assists and committing 24 turnovers in the season opener at #24 MTSU, UCF righted the ship Friday. Led by eight assists from junior Angelica Mealing (Decatur, Ga.), the Knights had 21 assists and committed only 13 turnovers.

Junior D'Nay Daniels (Atlanta, Ga.) posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the game, leading UCF to a 48-39 victory.

UCF takes 12 days off before returning to action on Dec. 2 at Jacksonville at 7 p.m.
