ORLANDO, Fla. - Before the UCF football team hosts Tulane on Saturday afternoon, members of the UCF Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be holding a canned food drive outside of Bright House Networks Stadium. The game is slated to start at 2 p.m.
Items collected at the food drive will be donated to the Central Florida Children's Home and the Second Harvest Food Bank. The goal is to collect 3,000 pounds of food for the needy.
The food drive is part of a Conference USA initiative in which the league's 12 schools' respective SAACs are competing to see who can generate the most donations. Canned foods were also collected at the UCF Arena prior to Tuesday night's men's basketball game against Howard. The mission of UCF's SAAC is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting communication between student-athletes and athletic department administration, protecting the voice and well-being of student-athletes on the local, conference, and national levels, fostering a positive student-athlete image campus-wide, and in the Orlando community through service.
Tickets are still available for Saturday's contest and can be purchased by calling (407) 823-1000, logging onto UCFAthletics.com or in person at the Bright House Networks Stadium box office.
