When UCF (6-4, 4-2 C-USA) has the ball
Senior quarterback Brett Hodges had one of the best outings of his career last week in the win over Houston. After completing 21-of-25 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown against the Cougars, the Wake Forest transfer has completed 141-of-235 passes for 1,799 yards and 11 touchdowns. UCF has done a superb job in mixing the run with the pass this season. When the Knights throw the ball, offensive coordinator Charlie Taaffe does an excellent job of getting the ball in the hands of his play makers at the wide receiver spots. A.J. Guyton (32 catches, 461 yards, one touchdown), Kamar Aiken (24 catches, 403 yards, four touchdowns) and Jamar Newsome (22 catches, 276 yards, three touchdowns) have done outstanding at getting open and creating a lot of first downs for the Knights. UCF will hope to see the sure hands of senior Rocky Ross (28 catches, 334 yards, three touchdowns) this Saturday, after being held out of last week's contest due to injury. Despite having success at throwing the ball last week, it was the work of running back Brynn Harvey who was the difference maker for the Knights, rushing for three touchdowns and helping UCF amass a FBS-era record 39:30 in time of possession. Harvey has paced the Knights rushing attack this season, rushing 208 times for 818 yards and 10 touchdowns. UCF will utilize Harvey and the running game this weekend against the Green Wave, who rank 111th in FBS in terms of rushing defense.
When Tulane (3-7, 1-5 C-USA) has the ball
Tulane is looking to play the role of spoiler against UCF, in hopes of bringing down all chances of a C-USA championship run. Wide receiver Jeremy Williams (72 catches, 992 yards, five touchdowns) has been the Green Wave's number one offensive weapon throughout the season. Williams is ranked 11th in FBS in receptions per game (7.2), seventh in receiving yards per game (99.2) and eighth in total receiving yards (992). The receiver also poses a threat on special teams, as well. He has 1,555 total all-purpose yards, making him ranked 16th in the nation in the same category. The Green Wave offense is led by quarterbacks Ryan Griffin and Joe Kemp. Griffin has completed 113-of-176 passes for 1099 yards and seven touchdowns, while Kemp has added 82-of-125 passes completed for 1026 yards and four touchdowns. When running the ball, Tulane utilizes the legs of running back André Anderson. Anderson has paced Tulane's running game by rushing 197 times for 913 yards and seven touchdowns.
