ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The Knights certainly had an exciting weekend on the football field. After rallying from behind, with a 17-10 deficit at halftime, UCF took over, finishing the game with a 37-32 victory over No. 12 Houston. Playing an integral role in this success was quarterback Brett Hodges, who has been recognized as the Bright House Student-Athlete of the Week.
The senior hit on 21 of 25 passes throughout the match for 241 yards and a touchdown. Hodges 24-yard touchdown pass to Quincy McDuffie in the fourth quarter put the Knights up 10 points with 9:03 remaining in the contest.
During the game, Hodges completed 12 consecutive passes, tying him for second on UCF's consecutive pass completion list. Topping the register is Daunte Culpepper, having completed 15-straight passes against Samford in 1997.
On the impressive victory this weekend, Hodges had this to say.
"This was so huge because it means we're bowl eligible and our hopes in the conference are still very much alive," he said. "It really was a team effort today and a huge win."
The Knights take to field again this weekend against Conference USA opponent, Tulane at Bright House Networks Stadium. Kick-off is slated for 2 p.m.
