For Second Straight Week, UCF Alum Has 100-Yard NFL Receiving Game

Nov. 15, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. - For the second week in a row a UCF alumnus has recorded a 100-yard receiving game in the NFL as Brandon Marshall caught five passes for a season-high 134 yards and two touchdowns for the Denver Broncos on Sunday in a losing effort against the Washington Redskins.

Last week, Marshall's good friend Mike Sims-Walker led the Jacksonville Jaguars to a win over Kansas City with 147 receiving yards and a touchdown while Marshall himself racked up 112 receiving yards in Denver's Monday Night Football loss against Pittsburgh.

Marshall had touchdowns of 40 and 75 yards in the first quarter today at FedEx Field. This marks the fourth time in his career that he had caught two touchdowns in a game and the third time that Marshall has recorded 100-yard receiving games in consecutive weeks. Marshall now has 49 catches on the year for 602 yards and six scores.

UCF alumni actually accounted for all 17 of Denver's points today as, in addition to Marshall's two touchdowns, former Knight Matt Prater hit a 24-yard field goal and converted on both of his extra point attempts.

Marshall wasn't the only UCF alumnus to find the end zone on Sunday. Sims-Walker hauled in a 26-yard touchdown for the Jaguars in their 24-22 win over the New York Jets to improve to 5-4 on the year. Sims-Walker had three catches for 49 yards on the day.

Also, Kevin Smith ran for 55 yards on 12 carries, a 4.6 average, for the Detroit Lions at Minnesota. Atari Bigby and Josh Sitton were at their usual starting spots today for Green Bay as the Packers handed the Dallas Cowboys just their third loss of the year today at Lambeau Field. Bigby, a cornerback, made two tackles and has a pass defense for a defense that held Dallas to just seven points while Sitton started at right guard, something he has done in all nine games for the Packers in 2009.
