ORLANDO, Fla. (www.UCFAthletics.com) - Tailback Brynn Harvey made an exceptional showing this past weekend in the Conference USA match-up against Memphis, helping UCF to its first C-USA win of the season, and posting career highs in both carries and rushing yards. His excellent play has earned him the honor of UCF's Bright House Student-Athlete of the week.
Harvey posted 42 carries for 219 yards and a touchdown in UCF's come-from-behind victory over Memphis. With UCF trailing 7-3 at intermission, the sophomore ran 25 times for 155 yards in the second half, including a 25-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Harvey also played a significant role in helping the Knights to the team's highest offensive output since 2007. The team's 28 first downs, 12 of which can be accounted to Harvey, were its most since having 30 against East Carolina on Oct. 6, 2007. UCF's 475 yards of total offense were also the team's greatest since it posted 480 versus UTEP on Nov. 24, 2007.
Harvey's impressive display this weekend landed him in the UCF record book. His 42 carries were the third most in UCF history, and his 219 yards tied him for the sixth highest rushing output in program history.
The next time for UCF fans to catch the Knights in action at home will be on Oct. 17 in the contest against in-state opponent Miami. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Bright House Networks Stadium.
