Sophomore Elisa Aoki (Bradenton, Fla.) shot a 75 (+3) to lead the UCF women's golf team into a tie for six place after the opening round of the Eat A Peach Collegiate hosted by Mercer University at the par-72, 6,181-yard Idle Hour Country Club in Macon, Ga.
UCF shot a 307 (+19) as a team to match the score of Kennesaw State. Florida State leads the field after firing an even-par 288 on Sunday. The second and final round of the 36-hole event is set for Monday morning.
Aoki's 75 put her in a tie for 16th place overall. She was a stroke ahead of UCF freshman Valentina Fontaine (Santiago, Chile) who carded a 76 (+4) to place 23rd. Fontaine, likewise, was a stroke ahead of fellow freshman Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) who shot a 77 (+5) for the Knights on Sunday to tie for 28th.
Senior Victoria Tomko (Lontzen, Belgium) was UCF's fourth scorer with her 79 (+7) that tied her for 36th overall. Junior Katie Detlefsen (Eagan, Minn.) carded an 85 (+13) while freshman Sammy Vass (Tain, Scotland), competing as an individual, shot and 86 (+14) today.
