ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's soccer team will be traveling to Dallas for its second-to-last regular season game against Conference-USA opponent SMU. The Knights (6-6-2, 2-4-0 C-USA) will play the Mustangs (5-6-1, 1-2-1 C-USA) at Westcott Field on Saturday at 8 p.m.
Saturday's game will be a chance for UCF to prove their resiliency after suffering a last-minute, overtime loss to league opponent Kentucky on Wednesday. The Knights went down 1-0 in the 73rd minute, but freshman Nicholas Robson (Auckland, New Zealand) had an answer and found the back of the net to tie the game only eight minutes later. Regulation ended with a 1-1 tie, and in overtime Kentucky's Barry Rice connected from a corner kick and put the game winner away with only 34 seconds remaining.
Robson's goal was his fifth of the season, and he now leads the team with five goals, five assists and 15 overall points.
SMU is coming off a 3-2 upset of No. 16 -ranked Tulsa, and the game-winning goal has received national attention. Redshirt-freshman Ryan Rosenbaum blasted a shot from his half of the field, and the ball took a bounce over Tulsa's goalkeeper for a 95-yard goal.
The Knights are 0-3-1 all-time against SMU, and the two teams met last season in Orlando where SMU prevailed with a 2-0 victory.
After returning from Dallas, the Knights will end their regular season with a home conference game against No. 18 Tulsa on November 7 at 7:30 p.m.
