COMPLETE RESULTS

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Freshman Valentina Fontaine (Santiago, Chile) shot a two round total of 140 (-4) to place second as an individual and help the UCF women's golf team to a second-place standing as a team through Monday's two rounds of play at the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational at the par-72 Pelican Preserve Golf and Country Club in Fort Myers.

UCF as a team shot a 292 and a 288 amidst steamy conditions on Monday for a total of 590 (+4), a score which left the Knights looking up at only Furman's 588 (+2) out of the 15 schools which took to the links on Monday. The 288 tied for the field's best team tally of the second round. The third and final round of the event will go off at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday with a shotgun start.

"I am very proud of how the team endured through the second 18 holes today," UCF head coach Courtney Trimble said. "They really showed their mental toughness on a tough hot day. Valentina played fantastic and, collectively as a team, they did a great job of taking care of business on a long and tough day with 36 holes in high heat. Tomorrow, if we take things one shot at a time, hopefully we can bring home a trophy."

Fontaine shot a 69 and a 71 to account for her 140. She stands all alone in second place behind just the event leader, Shena Yang of USF, who carded a 136 (-8) today. Fontaine was one of just three golfers in a field of 81 student-athletes to post a score in the 60s in either round today.

Junior Katie Detlefsen made it two Knights to place in the top 10 overall today as she finished with an even-par 144 with a pair of 72s. Sophomore Elisa Aoki (Bradenton, Fla.) used a second-round 71 to work her way into the top 15 of the field with a 146 (+2).

Senior Victoria Tomko (Lontzen, Belgium) was UCF's fourth finisher as she tied for 30th overall with a 150 (+6). Freshman Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) was UCF's final finisher with a 157 (+13). Competing as an individual, freshman Sammy Vass (Tain, Scotland) had a 158 (+14).
