UCF-Marshall Men's Soccer Game to be Televised on CBS College Sports

Oct. 14, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF's Conference USA men's soccer game Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. will be televised CBS College Sports on tape delay. The broadcast of the game against the Thundering Herd will air on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. The CBS College Sports tape-delay production will also air on Bright House Sports Network on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m.

In conjunction with the game, UCF and the Student Government Association have worked together to guarantee the first 500 students in attendance on Sunday with a ticket to the homecoming concert featuring T-Pain. Students must have a valid UCF I.D. in order to obtain the concert ticket.

"This is a big game for our team and our program," said head coach Bryan Cunningham. "On the field, it is an important Conference USA contest against one of the league's best teams. It is also a great opportunity for us to showcase our university, our facilities and our program to a national audience. We look forward to getting great student and community support and providing a quality collegiate soccer game for all of the fans."

Jason Knapp and Shep Messing will be on the call for CBS College Sports, with Knapp handling the play-by-play duties and Messing serving as the color analyst.

Messing is a former professional soccer player whose playing days included time spent with the New York Cosmos as a teammate of the world-renowned Pele. He has been a soccer broadcaster for years and has covered some of the most elite events in the sport, including the 1986, 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups for ESPN.

UCF is currently 5-4-2 overall and 1-2-0 in C-USA play after a 4-2 victory Tuesday against Mercer. Led by a pair of goals by junior Camilo Rendon (Miami, Fla.), UCF notched a season high in goals scored and now, with 18 on the season, have already surpassed last season's goal total. Freshman Nicholas Keown-Robson (Auckland, New Zealand) leads the team in both goals (four) and assists (five).

Marshall sits atop the C-USA standings with a perfect 3-0-0 league mark and a 6-4-1 overall record. The Thundering Herd has been led this season by Dustin Dawes, who has tallied six goals in 2009. The team plays Wednesday night, hosting College of Charleston in a non-conference game.
