ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After being recognized as the Conference USA offensive player of the week on Monday, women's soccer player Becca Thomas can add yet another honor to her list as she was named UCF's Bright House Student-Athlete of the Week Tuesday.
The senior midfielder helped guide the Knights to an impressive weekend with the team posting wins against UTEP and Colorado College. These wins pushed UCF to No. 14 in this week's Soccer America rankings.
Thomas scored the game-winning goals in both games and also added an assist for a five-point weekend. In the match against UTEP, UCF found themselves tied at 2-2 when they received a penalty kick in the 55th minute. Thomas took the opportunity to deliver her first goal of 2009 into the lower left-corner. Subsequently versus Colorado College, Thomas led the Knights to a 2-0 advantage when she took a free kick and shot it into the left side in the 42nd minute.
The Knights take to the road on Oct. 16 when they face C-USA opponent Rice in Houston. The game is slated to begin at 8 p.m.
