DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The UCF women's golf team lost 3-2 to No. 24 Kent State and 4-0-1 to No. 15 North Carolina on Monday in the consolation bracket of the Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship at the LPGA International Legends Course in Daytona Beach. UCF will wrap up play on Tuesday morning against Colorado.
UCF got wins from senior Victoria Tomko (Lontzen, Belgium) and sophomore Elisa Aoki (Bradenton, Fla.) at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions, respectively, against the Golden Flashes but were defeated at each of the top three spots. Tomko won 3 and 2 over Shamira Marshall while Aoki took down McKenzie Jackson by the same 3 and 2 tally.
Freshman Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) halved her match against UNC's Margaret Pentrack at the No. 3 position but that was UCF's lone non-loss against the Tar Heels. Aoki nearly pulled out her match but fell, 1 up, to Jordan Allyne at No. 5 in a match that was all square through 16 holes.
