ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF baseball coach Terry Rooney will begin his second season with the Knights when they kick off their fall practice season Oct. 1 at 8:15 a.m. Fall camp will lead up to the Black and Gold World Series which takes place the first week of November, concluding with a Friday night game Nov. 6.

All practice sessions are free and open to the public. Typically, the Knights will be on the field Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings just after 8 a.m., as well as Sunday evenings at 5 p.m. However each week's schedule is different so practice times are subject to change. Contact UCF baseball athletics communications director Brian Ormiston at bormiston@athletics.ucf.edu with any questions.

Game one of the Black and Gold World Series is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 3, at 9 a.m., with the second contest to be held Thursday, Nov. 5, at 9 a.m. That will set up the finale Friday, Nov. 6, at 5 p.m. Fans are especially encouraged to come out to the ballpark during that week as it will be the last time the Knights will be able to practice as a team until late January.

"The No. 1 priority for our opening week of the fall is to implement our daily practice routine," said Rooney. "In addition, we are going to scrimmage in our first few sessions and I want to try and get in as many games as possible. Traditionally we play those games on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays."

The UCF skipper also understands that with several newcomers joining the program for 2010, he wants to see the Knights gel as a team.

"Along with implementing our style of play, I want to see guys start competing. We have 21 new players here and I need to see guys competing for jobs and positions. The whole key to fall ball is to evaluate on an individual level but also for this team to come together collectively."

While the fall is highlighted by the Black and Gold World Series, UCF also will hold its annual Scout Day Oct. 20 at 8 a.m. The event usually draws over 30 scouts from across Major League Baseball.

The 2010 spring schedule as well as ticket information will be available on UCFAthletics.com when it becomes official.
