LEXINGTON, Ky. - Due to steady rains, the UCF women's golf team had a day off in Lexington, Ky. as second day of play the Bettie Lou Evans Fall Invitational was cancelled. The Knights will be tied for second place out of 16 schools when the final 18 holes are contested on Sunday, starting at 8:30 a.m.
Senior Victoria Tomko (Lontzen, Belgium) and sophomore Elisa Aoki (Bradenton, Fla.) are both amongst the top five individuals at the University of Kentucky's par-72, 6,041-yard Big Blue Course.
UCF shot a 301 as a team in the opening round, leaving the Knights behind just Florida State's 298 on the day. UCF is tied with Coastal Carolina in second spot.
Just like her team, Tomko is tied for second place overall with an even-par 72 on Friday. She is one of three golfers standing two strokes behind the leader, Macarena Silva of Florida State, who shot a 70 in the opening round. Aoki carded a 74, making her one of eight golfers in a tie for fifth place.
Freshman Valentina Fontaine (Santiago, Chile) turned in a solid performance, tying for 20th overall with her 76. Freshman Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) shot a 79 while junior Katie Detlefsen (Eagan, Minn.) rounded out UCF's team competitors by carding an 80. Competing as an individual, Sammy Vass (Tain, Scotland) fired an 89.
