ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's cross country team is back on home turf after returning from a strong finish at the Mountain Dew Invitational. The Knights are set to host their second home meet of the season, the Knight Attack Challenge. The men's 8K race is scheduled to begin on Saturday at 8:30 a.m., and the women's 5K race will follow. Both races will take place at the UCF Cross Country Complex.
Both the start and finish lines of the course are located near the UCF Softball Complex on North Orion Boulevard. Team and spectator parking will be in lot E8 across from the complex. There is free admission for all fans in attendance.
The meet currently includes six men's teams and seven women's teams. Bethune-Cookman, Embry-Riddle, Miami, Rollins and Webber will field teams in both the men's and women's events, while UCF and Nova Southeastern will compete in the women's race. Flagler will only compete in the men's race.
The Knights are coming off of a successful meet at the Mountain Dew Invitational in which five runners posted times under 20 minutes and the UCF cross country team finished in the top five against a tough field. Senior Jamie Rzepecki again led the Knights across the finish line, taking 15th overall and recording a time of 18:38.12. Junior Ocean Cohen finished close behind Rzepecki in 20th place, crossing in 18:45.38. A notable accomplishment came from senior Carley Dart, who improved her previous personal best of 20:11.99 by more than 40 seconds with a time 19:28.44.
UCF finished in second place last year at the Knight Attack Challenge, which was its inaugural home meet.
