Taylor Selected to the Cal Ripken, Sr. All-League Team

Sept. 25, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF sophomore Beau Taylor was the lone catcher named to the 2009 Cal Ripken, Sr. All-League Team this past summer. It was the second honor the Rockledge native received for his play with the Herndon Braves, as he was ranked as the fourth-best prospect in the league by Baseball America.

Taylor competed in 28 games for the Braves in the wood-bat league, hitting .271 with three home runs, 16 RBI and a pair of sacrifice flies. Behind the plate, he held a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage and threw out six of eight would-be basestealers.

In his first campaign with the Knights last year, Taylor became the first catcher in UCF history to earn Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American accolades. He led Conference USA with 26 runners caught stealing and posted a .335 average at the plate.

Taylor along with the rest of the Black and Gold will be getting their fall camp underway the morning of Oct. 1.
