Knights Face Rain at Southern Intercollegiates

Sept. 19, 2009

ATHENS, Ga. (UCFAthletics.com) - It was a short Saturday for the UCF men's tennis team at the Southern Intercollegiates after tournament play was postponed due to another rain-soaked day. UCF's Marc Rocafort (Barcelona, Spain), Brock Sakey (Gulf Breeze, Fla.), and Blaze Schwartz (Pensacola, Fla.), all advanced after Friday's matches. However, with action postponed, one Knight was victorious.

In singles action, Schwartz won his round of 32 match in the Division II bracket, defeating Amogh Prabhaker of Wake Forest (6-4, 6-4). He will meet Peter Tauchner of Mercer in the round of 16.

Resuming singles play on Sunday, Sakey will meet Majin Ortigo of Georgia Tech in the round of 32.

In the Divison I doubles bracket, Rocafort and Schwartz will continue play against Torston Wietoska and David Holland of Duke in the round of 32 on Sunday.

The tournament is slated to continue through Monday on the Georgia campus.
