Promotional Activities Planned for UCF-Buffalo

Sept. 16, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - When the Knights host Buffalo on Saturday at Bright House Networks Stadium at 7:30 p.m., it will mark UCF's second home game of the season. Before spectators head in for kickoff, several promotional activities at the stadium will provide excitement and fun for fans.

Game sponsor Metro PCS will offer free white bandanas for the first 3,000 fans that enter the stadium. UCF fans are encouraged to wear white to the game as part of a special Armored in White promotion.

Fans attending the game are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy pregame entertainment inside Bright House Networks Stadium. The UCF football Letterman's Club will be honoring coaches and members of the first UCF team from 1979, as well as from teams over the past 30 years.

During halftime, the 1958 Buffalo team will be honored in a ceremony with Orange County Mayor Richard Crotty, Steve Hogan from Florida Citrus Sports, UCF President Dr. John C. Hitt and UCF Director of Athletics Keith Tribble. In 1958, Buffalo was invited to play in the Tangerine Bowl in Orlando. Due to a stadium policy that banned interracial events, the Bulls' two African-American players were not allowed to play in the game. As a result, the entire Buffalo squad voted not to participate in the bowl game.

Fan Faire, located at IOA Plaza outside the stadium, will feature:

∙ Live music from the Howl at the Moon Saloon beginning at 5 p.m., at the Orange County Parks & Recreation Stage
∙ The Smokey Bones pregame radio show, which broadcasts live on the UCF ISP Sports Network, starting at 5:30 p.m.
∙ Coozies and fans from Bright House Networks
∙ Expressway Authority passing out free transponder holders
∙ Games and keychains presented by E-Tour & Travel

∙Representatives from CCM Printing will be on hand providing schedule cards and stickers
∙Representatives from E-Tour & Travel will be on hand with games and giveaways

Several promotional activities are planned for the concourse areas of the stadium. Representatives from the Marines will be offering dog tags, lanyards, stickers, magnets and a pull-up challenge course.
