Men's Tennis to Play at Southern Intercollegiates

Sept. 16, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team will begin its fall season Thursday at the Southern Intercollegiates Championship in Athens, Ga. The tournament will include four Knights - seniors Brock Sakey (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) and Marc Rocafort (Barcelona, Spain), junior Blaze Schwartz (Pensacola, Fla.) and sophomore Claudio Romano (Valencia, Venezuela).

The event, hosted by Georgia, will be a four-day tournament, and include the top players from the southeast.

"There will be a lot of opportunities to do well," UCF head coach Bobby Cashman said.

Last spring Schwartz was an All-Conference USA Second Team selection while Rocafort won three matches at the No. 1 position. Sakey and Romano are returning after missing the spring campaign due to injury.

"They [Rocafort and Schwartz] played well last year, they have all been showing great leadership on the court; they are ready," Cashman said.

Cashman's squad is scheduled to participate in five tournaments this fall.
