UCF FOOTBALL POSTGAME NOTES
SEPTEMEBER 12, 2009 - AT SOUTHERN MISS

TEAM NOTES
- In both 2005 and 2007, UCF lost its first conference road game and came back to win the East Division. The 2005 loss was at Southern Miss and the 2007 loss was at East Carolina.
- Jamar Newsome's 89-yard fourth quarter kickoff return was UCF's third this year of at least 72 yards, all by different people. Quincy McDuffie had a 95-yard touchdown vs. Samford and Darin Baldwin had a 72-yard return vs. the Bulldogs as well.
- UCF had an 18-play scoring drive in the first half that lasted 8:46. It was the longest drive by plays since UCF had an 18-play touchdown march against Memphis on Sept. 22, 2007. It was the longest drive by time of possession since an 8:56 touchdown drive at Southern Miss on Oct. 28, 2007.
- The Knights were successful in their first fourth-down conversion try of the year during the 18-play scoring drive.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- Brett Hodges' 158 passing yards today were the highest of his collegiate career, topping the 140 he had at Nebraska on Sept. 8, 2007, prior to his transfer from Wake Forest. He also had his first career multiple-TD pass game.
- Nick Cattoi's 50-yard fourth-quarter field goal was a career-long. It is tied for the eighth-longest in UCF history.
- Jamar Newsome's 89-yard fourth quarter kickoff return was a career-long. It was the longest non-scoring kickoff return in UCF history.
- Kamar Aiken's first quarter touchdown catch was his first of the season and the seventh of his career.
- Redshirt freshman H-Back Billy Giovanetti had his first-career rush and reception tonight. His father, Bill Giovanetti, is a member of UCF's Athletic Hall of Fame.
- Linebacker Cory Hogue made the milestone 30th start of his career. That is the most among active Knights.
- Redshirt freshman Steven Robinson made his first-career start tonight at right guard.
- UCF's game captains tonight were TE Corey Rabazinski and DT Torrell Troup. The Scout Team Players of the Week were QB Andy Slowik and LB Loren Robinson.
