Aug. 31, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Two days after being named to the Radisson-UCF Invitational All-Tournament Team, UCF volleyball senior Andee Youngblood (Castle Rock, Colo.) was honored as the Conference USA Setter of the Week, league officials announced Monday.

The weekly award is the first for Youngblood in her career and marks only the third time in program history that a UCF volleyball player has earned the distinction.

Youngblood guided UCF to the Radisson-UCF Invitational title and its first 4-0 start in 14 years last weekend after totaling 151 assists, 23 digs and six blocks over the four-match stretch. The senior paced the UCF offense to a .276 team hitting percentage on the weekend after averaging 11.62 assists and 1.77 digs per set.

In the opening match against Jacksonville, Youngblood registered her first double-double of the season with 45 assists and 10 digs, and added two kills, a service ace and a block assist, before adding 35 assists and helping the Black and Gold hit .354 in the nightcap against North Florida.

Youngblood added 40 assists, four digs and two block assists against Florida Atlantic early Saturday afternoon, while leading the offense to a .433 hitting percentage, its highest mark of the season.

In the championship match against DePaul, Youngblood once again posted over 30 assists, dishing out 31 while adding six digs and two block assists.

The senior had 30 or more assists in all four tournament matches over the weekend.
