ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - With only seven days until it opens the season with the Radisson-UCF Invitational, the UCF volleyball team will take to the floor Saturday for its second-annual Black and Gold scrimmage at 4 p.m. at The Venue at UCF.
The intra-squad match will allow anxious Knights fans to get a sneak-peak at the 2009 team and will also serve as the finale of UCF's preseason training camp.
There is no admission charge for the event at The Venue and parking in garage F is also free of charge.
UCF welcomes eight newcomers to the squad for the 2009 season, while returning eight letterwinners from last season, including 2009 Preseason All-C-USA selection Erin Campbell (Kansas City, Mo.).
In his first season at the helm of the UCF volleyball squad, head coaches Todd Dagenais led the Knights to a 15-17 overall record, their best clip since 2003, and to a tie for their best finish in Conference USA standings after registering a 6-10 mark.
The Black and Gold opens the 2009 season on Aug. 28 when it hosts the Radisson-UCF Invitational at The Venue at UCF. The Knights will kick-off the tournament with matches against in-state rivals Jacksonville and North Florida, before wrapping up the event on Aug. 29 against Florida Atlantic and DePaul.
Season tickets for the upcoming season are on sale now for only $30, with the Knights hosting 16 regular-season matches at The Venue at UCF throughout the year.
