ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF head baseball coach Terry Rooney announced Thursday that former Florida State student assistant coach Dan Scott has joined the Knights as a volunteer assistant coach. The Black and Gold also welcomed former Knight Nick Choto to the staff as the director of baseball operations.
"I'm very excited to get started and to be able to work with a great staff here at UCF," said Scott. "I'm really looking forward to continuing my coaching career and I want to thank coach Rooney for this opportunity with the Knights."
Scott spent his first two years at Florida State as a student manager before serving as a student assistant coach the last two seasons. With the Seminoles, he helped with pregame batting practice, equipment management and facilitating practices.
A summer 2009 graduate from FSU with a bachelor's degree in social sciences, Scott will work with the outfielders as well as serve as the camp coordinator at UCF.
Choto spent three seasons with the Knights after playing his freshman campaign at Nova Southeastern. The middle infielder played in 44 games in his career, including 11 starts in 2009 where he went 11-for-43 for a .256 average at the plate.
