Wallor's Pupil to Compete in Solheim Cup

Aug. 19, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Over the years, Bryce Wallor served as an instructor for several professional golfers. Wallor, who was named UCF's new men's golf head coach in July, was happy to offer his expertise to the pros.

His instruction has paid off for one of his pupils. Brittany Lang, who Wallor worked with for the past three and a half years, is one of 12 members of the United States squad for the Solheim Cup, which begins Thursday in Sugar Grove, Ill. The event is a biennial trans-Atlantic team match-play competition featuring the best Americans from the LPGA Tour and the best European players from the Ladies European Tour.

Lang has competed in the LPGA since 2006 and made the Solheim Cup squad by finishing seventh on the tour's points list.

Wallor says that he will be watching with pride when Lang plays in this week's event.

"I take great pride in all of my students while they are out there competing. It is their golf and their game. Their success and failure is up to them. But they ask you to be a part of it and it is a huge honor to help educate someone on how they can be the best in the world."

Wallor thinks that there is an easy explanation for Lang's success - hard work. He expects his Knights to have the same trait in 2009-10.

"Brittany is very diligent," he said. "She is very intelligent in how she goes about golf. The success she is having is very deserved. She has worked very hard for it."
