College Football Analyst Charles Davis to give Keynote Address at Sold-Out UCF Countdown To Kickoff Luncheon

July 28, 2009

Orlando, FL (www.UCFAthletics.com) - Charles Davis, lead analyst for the BCS National Championship Game and host of the new weekly TV show, SEC Gridiron Live!, will give the keynote address at the upcoming sold-out UCF Countdown to Kickoff Luncheon presented by Bright House Networks at the UCF Arena on Friday, Aug. 21.

The UCF Countdown to Kickoff Luncheon has been a hot ticket ever since the event was announced and as a result, additional "Sideline Seats" were added once corporate tables sold out. Sideline Seats can be purchased at UCFAthletics.com in sections on the UCF Arena's west lower bowl for $25. These additional seats will provide even more Knight football fans access to the UCF Arena for the much anticipated luncheon program. Lunch will not be included with a Sideline Seat purchase, but Arena concessions on the second level concourse will be open.

Proceeds from the event, which is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., will benefit scholarships for student-athletes. Registration opens at 11 a.m.

Prior to his move to FOX and coverage of BCS bowl games, Davis was a key figure for the Big Ten Network and has served as lead analyst for TBS' coverage of college football featuring the Big 12 and Pac-10 conferences.

On the very first game to broadcast on the Big Ten Network, Davis and Thom Brennaman called Appalachian State's monumental upset of the Michigan Wolverines in 2007. In addition to his BCS bowl game duties, Davis also joined the FOX postgame show appearing with Jimmy Johnson and Terry Bradshaw starting in October, 2008. He later appeared in December with Chris Rose, Barry Switzer, and Johnson for the BCS results shows.

Davis has had a diverse broadcasting career over the past two decades that has seen the New York native serve primarily as analyst for college football, but also working with the NBA on TNT, NCAA Basketball Tournament on CBS, Arena Football League on NBC and SEC football on Jefferson Pilot, to name a few. Overall, he has called everything from college baseball and basketball to football and golf across ESPN, CBS, NBC, FOX, The NFL Network, The Golf Channel, TBS, TNT and Sun Sports.

The luncheon will feature Head Coach George O'Leary and the entire 2009 UCF football team, along with the Marching Knights, UCF cheerleaders, KnightMoves and Knightro. They will be joined in the program by UCF President John C. Hitt, UCF Director of Athletics Keith Tribble, Bright House Networks Central Florida President Chris Fenger and others.
