UCF Men's Soccer Signee Reed Claims Two Awards

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF men's soccer signee Malcolm Reed, a Summerville, S.C., native, recently picked two awards honoring him for an impressive senior campaign. Reed was named The Post and Courier's boys' soccer player of the year and also The Post and Courier's male athlete of the year.

Reed was a standout in both basketball and soccer during his prep career at Pinewood Prep, and won a combined nine state championships in the two sports. In soccer, his primary sport, Reed claimed five state championships playing primarily as a defender.

The 6'2 Reed is expected to play both defender and midfielder this season for the Knights. He is one of 12 newcomers slated to join head coach Bryan Cunningham's squad for the 2009 season.
