Why UCF? - Brock Sakey

July 14, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - An injury forced Brock Sakey (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) to miss the 2009 spring season for the Knights. The senior will be back in 2009-10, hoping to help UCF achieve more success on the courts.

Sakey did play last fall, compiling a 7-3 record in singles action. In doubles play, he went 7-0 with Joe Delinks (Falmouth, Mass.).

Sakey arrived on the UCF campus in 2005. He recently took time to share his thoughts about his decision to attend the school.

"I thought the campus was amazing and everything about it just felt right," Sakey said. "I was blown away by the facilities at UCF."

After arriving in Orlando, Sakey quickly experienced success. After winning 16 matches in spring 2006, he was selected as the Conference USA Freshman of the Year. Sakey chose UCF over Alabama, Florida State and LSU.

"I wanted to be part of an up-and-coming school. I wanted to help UCF be one of the top athletic schools in the country. It will take some time, but it is going to happen," he said.
