UCF's Greg Brown Promoted to Associate Head Coach

June 8, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Greg Brown has been promoted to associate head coach of the UCF women's basketball program, head coach Joi Williams announced Monday. Brown has been an assistant coach at UCF since Williams was hired prior to the 2007-08 season.

"Coach Brown has been extremely loyal to me and to our basketball program," said Williams. "He has definitely been instrumental to our growth and success over the past two seasons. Greg is a tireless worker and a very knowledgeable coach and teacher. His promotion is well-deserved, and I'm happy to be able to do it."

Brown's primary responsibilities include coaching the post players, coordinating scouting and assisting in game preparation and scheduling. He also serves as co-director of the Joi Williams Basketball Camps.

"I am both excited and humbled that Coach Williams has promoted me to associate head coach," said Brown. "There is a great coaching staff in place at UCF, and we will work hard to continue the progress the program has made both on and off the court over the past two seasons."

In 2008-09, UCF had a memorable season which included four wins in four days to win the Conference USA Tournament and subsequently claim a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

In the past two seasons, Brown's work has been significant in the development and play of rising junior Emma Cannon (Rochester, N.Y.). As a sophomore in 2008-09, Cannon averaged 15.5 points and 11.6 rebounds per game and was named C-USA Tournament MVP.

Prior to coming to UCF, Brown had head coaching stints at the high school level with both Goodpasture Christian School and Friendship Christian School. He also worked from 2002-04 on Pat Summit's staff at the University of Tennessee.
