UCF Football Summer Preview - UAB

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The Knights will wrap up the 2009 regular season against Conference USA opponent UAB. The game will take place Nov. 28, at 1:30 p.m. Eastern at Legion Field in Birmingham.

Last season, the Blazers finished up the year 4-8. UCF has a 5-1 advantage in the series with a 3-1 mark against the Blazers since the Knights became a member of C-USA in 2005. UCF had its first loss against UAB last season in Orlando.

Offensive Player to Watch
In his first full season at quarterback, Joe Webb passed for 2,367 yards in 2008. With 1,021 yards on the ground, Webb broke the C-USA record for rushing yards by a quarterback in a single season. He accounted for 21 touchdowns, rushing for 11 and passing 10. Webb is also well respected by his teammates; he was voted a permanent team captain by his Blazer teammates at the end of the season.

Defensive Player to Watch
Defensive end Bryant Turner started in nine games last season. Turner finished with 20 tackles for the year, including 15 solo stops. He led the team in sacks with four and ranked second on the Blazer defense in tackles for loss with seven.

Smith Defeats the Blazers
With the Knights' last visit to Birmingham, UCF came away with a 45-31 win in 2007. Kevin Smith carried 41 times for 320 yards and four touchdowns. With the victory, UCF won its fourth game in a row and the Knights claimed sole possession of first place in the East Division of C-USA.
