ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF football team hosts Conference USA rival Marshall on Nov. 1 at Bright House Networks Stadium. Kickoff for the Sunday game set for 8:15 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN. Marshall and UCF will continue the series with UCF holding a 4-0 lead since 2005.
The Thundering Herd finished the 2008 season at 4-8. Offensively, the team looks ahead with seven returning starters, including 1,000-yard rusher Darius Marshall. On defense Marshall returns eight starters, seven of which are top-10 tacklers from last season.
Offensive Player to Watch
An All-America candidate, tight end Cody Slate enters his senior season with 2,012 career receiving yards and 19 touchdown receptions. Last season, he recorded 40 catches for 510 yards with eight scores.
Defensive Player to Watch
Marshall returns two starters at linebacker, including senior Mario Harvey. Harvey recorded 107 tackles last year. He forced one fumble and had an interception which he returned for a touchdown.
Conference Victory
Last year, UCF stopped the Thundering Herd in an away game 30-14. Sha'reff Rashad's two interceptions led to two 24-yard field goals for the Knights. UCF's Brynn Harvey had 33 carries for 150 yards and scored his first career touchdown on a 50-yard run in the fourth quarter. UCF is undefeated vs. Marshall in C-USA play.
