ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Like most graduating college seniors, Kenrick Zondervan (Hoofddorp, Holland) has concerns about his first job after earning his degree. Unlike his peers, Zondervan is not worried about getting a job, just about where that job is located.
After averaging 7.0 points and 4.4 rebounds for the Knights in 2008-09, the post player knows that he will be playing professionally in Europe next season. It is the destination that is unknown. Zondervan has already signed with an agent. Up next is a contract with a pro team.
"I don't know where I am going, but I do know that I can get a job," Zondervan said. "That is good for me. I will be able to start making money right away."
Zondervan certainly helped his stock as a senior, especially in Conference USA play. He averaged 9.3 points against league foes. It is a good bet that his agent has sent footage of UCF's win over Tulsa in February to potential teams. Facing Jerome Jordan, who is considered to be lock for the 2010 National Basketball Association Draft, Zondervan had the best game of his collegiate career, finishing with 18 points and six boards as UCF rallied for a 74-72 win in Orlando.
On Saturday, Zondervan will earn his bachelor's degree. His parents are making the trip over from Holland for his graduation ceremony.
Zondervan plans to stay in Orlando until late June. Before leaving the country, he will workout and play pickup games at UCF.
A fan favorite during his time with the Knights, Zondervan says that he is looking forward to the next chapter in his life. He only wishes that he knew where the chapter will begin.
"It is exciting, but one the other side, I do want to know where I am going to go. It is only a couple of months away. I want to start preparing."
