Taylor Heading to Chicago for NBA Draft Combine

May 27, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - As one of only 52 players invited to this week's National Basketball Association Draft Combine in Chicago, UCF guard Jermaine Taylor (Tavares, Fla.) will have the opportunity to audition in front of representatives from every franchise. During the combine, Taylor and other draft prospects will be tested in various strength and agility drills.

The event will begin Thursday at the Attack Athletics Gym. ESPNU will air three hours of the combine Thursday, starting at 2 p.m. On Friday, two hours of coverage will begin at 10 a.m.

Since concluding his senior season in March, Taylor has excelled in front of scouts and executives from NBA franchises. At the Portsmouth Invitational in April, he led the event in scoring, averaging 21.3 points to earn a spot on the all-tournament team. The shooting guard also had a strong performance at the Hershey's All-Star Game, totaling 23 points in Detroit.

In 2008-09, Taylor ranked third in the country in scoring at 26.2 points per game. The Conference USA Player of the Year, he averaged a record 29.1 points against league foes. He paced the Knights in scoring in 29 of the team's 31 contests.

Following the season, he received Basketball Times All-America Third Team recognition and was also an Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention selection.

The 2009 NBA Draft is set for June 25 in New York. Taylor and Tyreke Evans of Memphis are the two C-USA representatives at the combine this week.
