ORLANDO, Fla. - UCF's Director of Video Services, John Kvatek, Was recently named the Conference USA Video Coordinator of the Year by the Collegiate Sports Video Association. The announcement was made at the annual CSVA Conference in Jacksonville.
A 21-year veteran in the business, Kvatek was named the 2006-07 Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year at the annual Collegiate Sports Video Association Convention in May of 2007. The national honor followed on the heels of being named the 2007 C-USA Video Coordinator of the Year. Previously, he was the Big Ten Video Coordinator of the Year in 1998 while working at Wisconsin. John Kvatek enters his sixth season at UCF.
"This is really about my staff," Kvatek said. "We do so many diverse things here in this video department, everything from coaching tapes to a variety of weekly television shows. The logistics of each are completely different. That is plenty to oversee and is entirely too much accomplish - and accomplish well - without a tremendous group of people around you. They are the ones who earned this."
At UCF, Kvatek has overseen unprecedented growth in the Video Services Department. Along with producing all coaches' video, the department has assumed responsibility for producing all video board content, coaches shows, television ads, and live-event web-streaming.
Prior to his arrival at UCF, Kvatek worked at Pinnacle Systems, Inc., where he worked from 1999-2004. During his tenure at Pinnacle, Kvatek served as a product marketing manager for Networked News and Sports Editing Solutions.
Prior to Pinnacle Systems, Kvatek was the athletic video services coordinator at Wisconsin from 1995-99. During his time in Madison, Kvatek was responsible for the development and utilization of the world's first digital video network for sports video analysis and editing and was a member of the Kohl Center Design Team.
Kvatek has also worked as a video coordinator at Virginia Tech and Miami (Ohio) in their respective athletic departments. He is a 1995 graduate of Miami University with a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications.
Kvatek is also a member of the Customer Advisory Board of XOS Technologies, Inc., and is a member of the Sports Video Group (SVG) Advisory Board.
Kvatek, originally a resident of Creekside, Pa., and his wife Michelle have three sons: Conor, Liam and Declan. They reside in Orlando.
