Complete Finals Results in PDF Format
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (UCFAthletics.com) - In its toughest regatta of the season, the UCF rowing team earned 10th-place overall honors and took home third-place South Region honors at the Aramark Sprints South/Central Regional Championships Sunday at Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
The Knights earned 204 team points to finish in the overall top-10 and third in the South Region standings. With 387 total points, Virginia claimed the regional team title, with four Big 10 schools rounding out the top-five.
Clocking in at 6:20.1, its fastest time of the weekend, the Black and Gold varsity eight boat collected 99 points for UCF and finished in fourth place in the Varsity Eight Petite Final after out-rowing Notre Dame and Kansas State. No. 17 Iowa claimed first place with a time of 6:11.7, followed by No. 18 Louisville and No. 19 Minnesota.
UCF's varsity four crew earned a third-place finish in its Petite Final, defeating Iowa, Indiana and Louisville with a time of 7:11.7 to post 33 points for the Knights. With a time of 7:00.9, Wisconsin earned the win in the final, while Michigan State took home second-place honors.
The tough-rowing novice-eight squad competed in its second-consecutive Grand Final at the Aramark Sprints, clocking in at 6:31.2 to earn third-place honors and 20 points for the team. Virginia crossed the finish first in the race with a time of 6:27.60, while Wisconsin finished closely behind the Cavaliers in 6:27.63 to take second place.
The Knights' second varsity-eight boat earned 48 points for its team when it defeated Indiana, Kansas, Miami, Alabama and Kansas State in a time of 6:31.1 to take home first-place honors in the C Final, while the second varsity four finished sixth in its C Final with a time of 7:30.23 to add four points UCF's team score.
