ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Former UCF men's basketball star Jermaine Taylor (Tavares, Fla.) has been invited to participate in the National Basketball Association Draft Combine, which will be held in Chicago May 27-31. The 2008-09 Conference USA Player of the Year, Taylor is one of 52 individuals who earned an invitation to the event.
The combine will include drills and physical testing, but no game competition. The draft is scheduled for June 25.
As a senior, Taylor ranked third nationally in scoring at 26.2 points per game. He paced the Knights in scoring in 29 of the team's 31 contests. His 812 points were a UCF single-season record. In C-USA play, the shooting guard averaged a league-record 29.1 points.
He received Basketball Times All-America Third Team recognition and was also an Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention selection.
Since the season concluded, Taylor has excelled in front of NBA scouts and executives. At the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament in April, he led the event in scoring, averaging 21.3 points, and earned a spot on the all-tournament team.
At the Final Four in Detroit, Taylor played in the Hershey's College All-Star Game. He totaled 23 points in the contest and was named team MVP for the Hershey's All-Stars.
