ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF baseball and track and field captured this year's Knights Challenge that generates participation in Changing Athletes Minds for Personal Success (CHAMPS)/Life Skills events. These events promote athletes' involvement in campus wide programming, community service and leadership opportunities that prepares student-athletes for life after collegiate sports.
The Knight's Challenge goal is to recognize the importance of "athletes supporting athletes" at events. This program keeps track of student-athletes commitment to supporting their peers from other sports throughout the year.
There are five categories (team enhancement, outreach, athletes for athletes, personal enhancement, leadership, scholarly success, athletic excellence and above and beyond) that teams have opportunities to earn points.
Points are reported by members of the coaching staff or the Student Athletic Advisory Council (SAAC) representative. Each month, these points are calculated and a life skills grid is emailed to each team. Additionally, the Official Life Skills Team Competition Board is updated, which is on display in the Old Wayne Densch Center.
