Men's Tennis Returns Home for Regular Season Finale

April 9, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team returns home Friday to take on Marquette in its regular season finale. First serve is set for 2 p.m. and admission is free to the UCF Tennis Complex. Tomorrow is also senior day as the team will recognize the efforts of Danny Colon (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Tarek Ben Soltane (Tunis, Tunisia).

The Knights (10-9) are seeing their first action since compiling a 2-1 record at the Conference USA Shootout in Greenville, N.C., last weekend, knocking off Southern Miss and UAB.

Junior Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden) swept the competition, going 3-0 in singles at the No. 4 spot, and 3-0 at No. 1 doubles with partner Blaze Schwartz (Pensacola, Fla.). The dominating performance earned him C-USA Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors.

Schwartz, Ben Soltane, junior Marc Rocafort (Barcelona, Spain) and freshman Eugene Dolgovykh (Palm Coast, Fla.) all went 2-1 in singles at the shootout.

Marquette (15-6) comes into Orlando winners of its last six, scoring perfect 7-0 victories in each match.

After the match with the Golden Eagles, the Knights host the C-USA Championship from April 17-19.
