UCF's Frisell, Serrot Earn C-USA Women's Tennis Honors

April 29, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - A pair of UCF women's tennis student-athletes were voted onto the All-Conference USA Second Team as the league released its postseason squads Wednesday. Senior Elvira Serrot (Madrid, Spain) and sophomore Jenny Frisell (Gothenburg, Sweden) were voted as an all-conference doubles tandem, while Frisell made the second team for her singles play.

With the honors, UCF has now placed at least one player on a C-USA postseason team in each of the last four seasons since joining the league in 2005-06. Serrot was a member of the second team in singles in both 2007 and 2008, while Frisell made the third team as a freshman a year ago.

Frisell racked up 10 singles victories on the season, including a stretch of five-straight early in the spring campaign. She also defeated opponents from Tulane and Penn State.

On the doubles court, Frisell and Serrot joined together for their match vs. Georgia Southern Feb. 13 and proceeded to go 12-4, all at the No. 1 position. That included knocking off the No. 33 and No. 11 nationally-ranked doubles teams for 2-1 mark on the season. Frisell and Serrot climbed as high as No. 27 in the country and are still ranked in the top 65.
