GKC Rep Members Enjoy Pregame Event

April 20, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. - Members of the new Golden Knights Club Representative Program ("GKC Rep Program" for short) were treated to a highly entertaining pre-Spring Game speech by head coach George O'Leary who was quite glib and candid in expressing his appreciation for the support of the newly-minted regional reps.

This was the first formal gathering of the group and it was an enjoyable one in an intimate setting with both O'Leary and Director of Athletics Keith Tribble.

"The GKC Reps were fortunate to have a private chat with Keith Tribble and Coach O'Leary right before the Spring Game and a good time was had by all," said Seminole County representative Corey Mathias. "Those fun gatherings will continue all throughout the year for the GKC Reps and, as for diehard Knight Fans, it doesn't get any better than that."

In February, UCF Athletics unveiled the GKC Rep Program, a new and exciting program that will forever change how the athletics department interacts with its GKC members, as well as other friends of the program. The GKC is still actively searching its membership for new "reps" for currently-unclaimed areas of the state who will receive key contact with UCF Athletics coaches and staff.

The GKC Rep Program is a new initiative that will enable UCF Athletics to enhance relationships with GKC donors and others. The program will assist UCF Athletics by engaging UCF alumni and supporters who reside in the state of Florida, as well as the over 4,000 members of the Golden Knights Club.

The program will inform and service current supporters by enlisting a team of volunteers who will help the athletics department with a variety of uplifting activities in their local area. The program will encompass 14 regions, or divisions, across the state of Florida. Within each division, reps will build relationships with supporters of UCF Athletics, provide a link to the University and UCF Athletics, and play a key role in building athletics' successful future.

"If you're a UCF fan, then this is the program for you," Mathias said. "It's a great way to not only help the school you love, but also spend some time with those coaches and players that you cheer for from the stands."

This new program will provide its participants with the opportunity to serve as an ambassador for the GKC at all times, presenting a positive attitude and face for UCF Athletics in their home regions. Reps will be local ambassadors for the Knights by identifying new potential ticket holders and assisting with Golden Knights Club membership renewals.

Reps will also gain special insight into the department, participate in special social events and have a chance to win valuable prizes. They will receive key contact with UCF Athletics coaches and staff and receive public recognition at home football and basketball games along with recognition in those sports' game programs and official UCF apparel.

At this time the department is recruiting representatives for upcoming activities. To learn more, contact the GKC Office at (407) 823-2086 or visit UCFAthletics.com.
