March 7, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After knocking off No. 59 Florida Atlantic Friday afternoon, the UCF men's tennis team faces a quick turnaround when Georgia State comes to town Sunday. First serve at the UCF Tennis Complex is at 10 a.m. As always, admission is free.

The Knights (6-5) completed the 4-3 victory over the Owls when sophomore Blaze Schwartz (Pensacola, Fla.) topped FAU's Lawrence Harradine, 7-5, 1-6, 6-2. The sophomore prevailed in the third set for his team-best ninth win of the season. Before Schwartz closed out the match for the Knights, those playing in the No. 2, 3 and 4 spots stepped up with critical wins for the team.

Junior Marc Rocafort (Barcelona Spain), junior Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden) and freshman Eugene Dolgovykh (Palm Coast, Fla.) all collected clutch wins for the team. Georgia State comes into the match against the Knights off of a 7-0 loss to the Owls Saturday afternoon at the UCF Tennis Complex. The loss drops the Panthers' record to 0-12 on the year.

After the match with Georgia State, the Knights continue their homestand when they welcome Radford to Orlando Friday afternoon.
