ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - In the twilight for the first time this season, the UCF women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 loss to No. 4 Duke (10-1). Senior Elvira Serrot (Madrid, Spain) and sophomore Jenny Frisell (Gothenburg, Sweden) picked up an impressive 8-3 victory at the No. 1 doubles position upsetting the No. 11 doubles team in the nation. The Knights fell to 5-4 on the dual-match season.

"Our girls played unbelievable in doubles," said UCF head coach Stephanie Nickitas. "We talked about really taking it to another team and they absolutely did that. They went after it and played to their capability. I hope that they are able to gain a lot from it. I think that they are finally able to understand it is a belief that they know that they can compete. I just asked for them today to go out there and compete your hearts out."

Serrot and Frisell stormed out to a 7-0 lead at No. 1 doubles before Jessie Robinson and Mallory Cecil from Duke recorded three-straight games. But the Knights finished them off recording an 8-3 win. The tandem of Serrot and Frisell has been impressive in doubles play so far this season holding an unblemished 5-0 record and two wins over ranked opponents this week. Duke took the other two doubles matches to take an early 1-0 overall lead.

In singles play, four players from the Blue Devils were ranked in the top 70 nationally, helping Duke secure victories in all six singles matches to record a 7-0 victory against UCF.

The Knights travel to New Orleans, La., to face Southern on Monday and Tulane on Tuesday before returning to the UCF Tennis Complex on March 14 for a showdown against Penn State. Admission to all UCF home matches is free.
