ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team heads to Denver, Colo., this weekend to play host Denver and Middle Tennessee State. The squad will be playing away from home for the first time since Feb. 15.
The Knights (8-8) wrapped up their eight-match homestand Tuesday afternoon with a narrow 4-3 loss to New Mexico State.
After dropping the doubles point, the team picked up victories at the 3-5 spots.
Sophomore Blaze Schwartz (Pensacola, Fla.) collected his 12th triumph of the season, knocking off Roman Stoisavljevic, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. Also winning in three sets was junior Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden). He survived cramping in the third set to win, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.
Freshman Joe Delinks (Falmouth, Mass.) was a quick winner for the Knights at the No. 5 spot, 6-1, 6-3.
Saturday, the Black and Gold take on No. 69 Denver (8-6) and on Sunday the team will face off with No. 61 Middle Tennessee State (8-9).
Following the trip out west, the Knights will partake in the Conference USA Shootout which begins April 3 in Greenville, N.C.
