Serrot, Frisell Ranked as the No. 27 Doubles Team in the Country

March 17, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Helping to lift the UCF women's tennis team to an 8-5 overall record, the Knights' top doubles pair of senior Elvira Serrot and sophomore Jenny Frisell climbed all of the way to No. 27 in the country Tuesday. A total of 80 doubles teams were ranked this week, and the Serrot/Frisell combination stands as the highest-ranked tandem in Conference USA.

Serrot and Frisell first joined each other Feb. 13 against Georgia Southern and immediately took off. The Knights won six-straight contests, not letting an opponent win five games or more. That streak included two impressive wins over ranked teams.

Their first victory over a top doubles team came March 2 when they toppled NC State's No. 33 duo of Berkeley Brock and Lenka Hojckova, 8-4. Four days later, Serrot and Frisell took care of Duke's No. 11 doubles pair of Melissa Mang and Amanda Granson, 8-3. Those victories helped them earn C-USA Player of the Week honors.

Overall, Serrot and Frisell are 7-2 on the doubles court, all at the No. 1 position.

The Knights are back in action Friday when they battle No. 12 Tennessee at 2 p.m. Admission is free.
