Final Stats
ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Junior Shane Brown extended his hitting streak to 10 games, but Army was still able to defeat the UCF baseball team, 8-1, in Orlando Tuesday night. With the loss, the Knights' record dropped to 7-11 for the 2009 campaign.
Senior Chadd Hartman and freshman Austin Smith paced the UCF offense with two hits apiece. On the mound, freshman Jordan Rasinski made his collegiate debut after recovering from a lengthy injury, coming out of the pen to pitch 1.0 innings of hitless ball, striking out two. For the Black Knights, starter Kyle Brueggemann tossed 7.0 innings, giving up six hits and one run.
Army (5-6) grabbed the lead against UCF starter Jaager Good in the second inning, picking up RBI hits from J.P. Polchinski and Zach Price. The Knights responded with one run in the third when Brown knocked in Smith on a groundout.
The Black Knights reached the top of the fifth and plated two more runs on UCF's fourth pitcher of the game, then added three in the sixth and one in the eighth for the 8-1 advantage.
One last game awaits before Conference USA play begins this weekend at No. 23 East Carolina. The Knights are scheduled to take on No. 25 Florida at Jay Bergman Field Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. with the game to be aired on Bright House Sports Network (tape-delayed to 8 p.m.).

-Tuesday night marked the one-year anniversary of UCF's second no-hitter in program history, and its first combined no-no. On March 17, 2008, Mitch Houck went 7.0 innings while Austin Hudson came in to pitch the final 2.0 innings to no-hit Wagner in a 6-0 win.
-In celebration of St. Patrick's Day, the UCF grounds crew continued a tradition of painting the bases green. It also outlined the UCF logo behind home plate in green and white.
-Colin Arnold made his first appearance since being injured at LSU Feb. 27 when he came on as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning. He promptly got on base with a single.
-The Knights used eight pitchers Tuesday night, with Gil Gomez, Jordan Rasinski, Cory Weech and Justin Weiss not allowing a run in their outings.
